Battle of the Builds: Canstruction Waterloo Region

Every year for Canstruction Waterloo Region, designers, architects, and engineers use their talents to raise food, funds, and awareness for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. This year, The FoodBank of Waterloo Region are introducing Battle of the Builds, a look back at five years of Canstruction Waterloo Region. Between April 17-25, 2021, images of the structures will be on display at Conestoga Mall and local grocery stores, and you will have the chance to decide the Canstruction Waterloo Region Battle of the Build champion by donating to vote. Since 2008, Canstruction Waterloo Region has helped provide more than 1.2 million meals to people in our community struggling to put food on the table. Belmont Village Festival (Bestival)

Extend a Family Waterloo Region

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region (EAFWR) was founded in 1981 by a group of parents who wanted their sons and daughters who had developmental disabilities to have friends and be included in their community. It is run by a volunteer board of directors made of supported families and community members. Westmount Signs & Printing are proud sponsors each year for all their sign and printing essentials.

Special Olympics

Westmount Signs & Printing are proud sponsors for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation (SOCF), which was founded in 1997. It exists to financially support the strategic objectives of Special Olympics Canada. Their goals are to increase program participation of individuals with an intellectual disability, increase recruitment of volunteers, including trained coaches and officials, and to ensure the financial integrity of the Special Olympics Canada movement for generations to come. SOCF believes individuals with an intellectual disability can lead healthier and happier lives when given the opportunity to participate in sport programs.

Child Witness Centre

The Child Witness Centre provides support, education and advocacy for children and youth who are, or may become victims or witnesses of abuse or crime. Evolving their programs to fit the needs of young victims or witnesses has always been a key component of their mission. Westmount Signs & Printing are proud sponsors in their efforts in offering various programs to Waterloo Region, Guelph and Wellington County.

The KW Flamenco Festival

The KW Flamenco Fest is an annual event hosted by CaluJules – Flamenco Plus with the goal to nurture and grow our local flamenco community. CaluJules is founded by dancer-singer Claudia Aguirre and flamenco guitarist Julian Berg. Together they teach flamenco in Waterloo and the North-East districts of Toronto. They are passionate about community-building and arts education, having led workshops for organizations such as Wheeldance Canada and the VIVA Youth Singers Choir. Westmount Signs & Printing are proud sponsors for all their printing and signage needs.

Junior Achievement Waterloo Region Golf Tournament

Since 1991, the funds raised at the JA Waterloo Region Golf Tournament have helped countless youths to succeed through experiential learning programs and mentoring by their dedicated volunteers. The Food Bank Of Waterloo Region – Interview

It is through these community partnerships, that the Food Bank is able obtain and distribute emergency food from neighbours to neighbours. Kitchener Blues Festival

Kitchener Blues Festival is free festival which takes place the weekend after the Canadian “Civic Holiday” in August. Starting with their Thursday Kick Off Concert, then all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday the events feature various blues artists. Irish Real Life Festival

Westmount Signs & Printing has partnered with Irish Real Life to paint the town green the week of St. Patrick’s Day. The festival will showcase the rich scope of contemporary and traditional Irish culture through a variety of events for all ages.

Irish Real Life Festival is a not for profit festival powered by a group of passionate individuals who mission is to celebrates the rich history and modern ideas of Ireland. They believe that for one week every March, everyone should have Irish roots.

Duds for Studs

The team at Westmount Signs & Printing is supporting Dr. Rahima Hirji, ND of Sage Naturopathic Clinic and Moe Visram of Trends For Men with their Duds for Studs initiative. The inaugural ‘Suit Up!’ event takes place at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Kitchener.

Duds for Studs is local program that provides free prom, semi-formal, graduation and business wear to young men who otherwise could not afford them. Gently used business and formal wear including suits, shirts, dress pants, belts, ties, and shoes are being collected at Sage Naturopathic Clinic and Trends for Men in order to be redistributed to those in need at the Suit Up! event.
